Scoperto che la la lettera di George Carter, custodita a casa mia, conteneva l' indirizzo di casa sua e che per giunta era a Londra (zona Wembley) ho deciso che alla prima occasione avrei dovuto fare almeno un "timido" tentativo; cioè verificare di persona se esisteva ancora l' abitazione, Geroge e/o qualche discendente. Tenendo presente che la persona Inglese è poco incline a passare tutta la vita nella stessa casa, le probabilità di trovare tracce di George erano molto scarse. Considerando anche il fatto che consultato con Google maps in versione streetwiew al 19 di Alperton Lane corrispondevano in sequenza:ospedale, università e una vista su un centro commerciale potete capire quante probabilità di trovare qualcuno io potessi avere.
Con mio grande stupore, invece, arrivato in Alperton Lane e passato il ponte della ferrovia mi è apparso il 19...con tanto di lucina accesa all' interno...e sono stato ancora più stupito dal fatto che una gentile signora, Mrs Edward, dopo avermi aperto la porta, mi ha risposto di sapere chi è, anzi putroppo chi era, George Carter.
La signora molto gentile corrisponde alla moglie di un nipote di George che, da quanto ho potuto capire lasciò questo indirizzo nell' immediato dopoguerra (probabilmente per questo le ricerche di Albert Rhoades furono vane) per vivere a qualche isolato da qua, tant'è che la signora mi ha raccontato che è deceduto 3 anni fa all' età di circa 90 anni, in una struttura della zona.

The very nice lady is, oif i well understood, the wife of a grandson of George , from what I could understand he left this address in the ' immediate post-war period ( probably why the research of Albert Rhoades were in vain ) to live a few blocks from here, so much so that the lady told me that died about 3 years ago to ' age of about 90 years in a facility in the area.
